It's been a few years since I've created a Boulder piece that wasn't commissioned as an illustration for a specific purpose. I just hadn't been doing much art on my own accord. But now with a new retail outlet for my work, Flashbaak, I'm feeling inspired to create some fresh art.
What you see here is merely a rough outline and the finished piece will be in full color. This is a slight departure from my usual poster style. The composition is a floating, typographic incorporating illustration rather than a rectangular pictorial scene. I certainly got more decorative than usual with all the swirly fun! The final piece, however, will still retain my known aesthetic.
I think this may be the beginning of the next iteration of my artistic style.
I usually don't publicly show works in progress but I felt like sharing!
It was fun creating this bright, happy artwork. We had so much rain this spring that Boulder still looks this green!
A new flea market is starting up next month on University Hill in Boulder. What's a flea market poster without lots of random stuff? Some of this is stuff that I own like my old toaster and milkshake machine.
This piece differs in style from my usual poster work but it's still very me. The limited color palette gives it a vintage feel but then I also think the poster has a modern edge to it as well. I really had a lot of fun drawing this!
Is there anything in there you want to buy? Make me an offer.
